Olivia Jade Helped With My Makeup Routine… Oops!

If you’ve been keeping up with the news, you definitely have seen stories about the college admissions cheating scandal. Lori Loughlin, aka Aunt Becky from Full House, is among the 40 charged. Loughlin and her husband are accused of paying $500,000 to USC in exchange for having their two daughters get admitted to the university. One of their daughters, Olivia Jade, happens to be youtube famous for her daily vlogs and makeup tutorials.  I had to do some digging to find out who this girl is, being the huge youtube fan that I am. Primarily, I was curious about looking at her comment sections to see all the trolls putting in work. Unfortunately, her comment section was already disabled so I had to get my entertainment from the videos themselves.

This might be awkward to say, but after watching a couple of her videos, I accidentally became hooked. After binge-watching her videos for the night, I took a trip to Ulta to revamp my makeup lineup.

I know I’ve mentioned that my sister is the beauty guru in my family, but I’m chopped liver when it comes to doing make up. My sister is going to say I am the biggest copycat, but makeup has actually become a big hobby of mine. And now, I think I have a solid routine thanks to Olivia Jade. She sucks less now, in my opinion. Anyways, weird transition, but here is the list of products I use. Enjoy.

  1. I always start by moisturizing my face with Cereve Daily Moisturizing Creme.
  2. I then use Laura Mercier Foundation Primer to prime the face.
  3. I then apply Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer with my fingers all over my face and neck. This product rocks because it isn’t too full coverage, but gets your face to one solid color.
  4. Then, I use Tarte Shape Tape under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, on my chin, and on any blemishes. I wet a beauty blender to rub in this concealer.
  5. I will then take Laura Mercier Translusent powder to set in the concealer under my eyes. I will also use my beauty blender to carve out my cheekbones. I let it bake for ~5 minutes before wiping it off. If you let the powder sit for too long, your skin will crease.
  6. Above the line of powder on my cheekbones, I use an angled brush to apply my bronzer. I use Marc Jacobs bronzer in the shade Tan-Tastic! I also apply the bronzer to my neck and around my hair line.
  7. I set my face with Urban Decay’s Chill Setting Spray before moving on to the eyes.
  8. I use a light brown shade to cover my entire lid. I then take a dark brown to carve out the outer corner of my eyes. I then use a gold eyeshadow and apply it to the center of my lid. These shades all come from the Morphe Pallet 12NB.
  9. I then apply a thin line of eyeliner along the top of my upper lash line. I use the Fenty Liquid Eyeliner in the shade ‘Cuz I’m Black.’
  10. I then apply a coat of Benefit They’re Real Mascara Primer. I use a second coat of Benefit They’re Real Mascara after the primer dries.
  11. Lastly, I spray a fan brush with Urban Decay’s Chill Setting Spray and go in with highlight. I use Laura Geller Highlighter in the shade ‘Charming Pink.’ I apply the highlight to the tip of my nose, my cupid’s bow, my cheekbones, and the inner corner of my eyes.
