79° in February

Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow Saturday morning to predict the weather to come in the following months. Turns out you can be packing up that winter coat sooner than expected. The groundhog did not see his shadow, and as legend goes, this means an earlier spring. I never knew the groundhog to have a reliable track record in his predictions, but this week Mr. Phil might’ve been on to something. Today, Feb 7th, there is a high of 79°. Seems hard to believe given the negative 40° weather coming from the Northeast last week. But miracles happen when you believe! (or maybe it is just called climate change).

Today, the weather made me do the unexpected. I went on a walk for absolutely no reason. I even put on a work out top to add to the fun of it.  You should know that I am not this kind of person. My daily dose of endorphins is not usually released from walking. No, I believe my endorphins come from hearing the beep beep unlocking noise from my Jeep before getting in.

I’m a driver, and I’ve never understood people who choose to exert physical energy to get from point A to point B by walking when driving is an option. This isn’t medieval times people, we have cars.

But the weather really shifted my mindset today. I went out and communicated with nature, taking a moment to breathe in all the beauty of the outdoors. Thank you, nice weather in February, for giving me the energy to actually appear as a normal human being who does things like ‘walking for fun.’ That, I am grateful for.

I wanted to share this incredible moment for those that know me and know I haven’t seen the gym since high school. Change has got to start somewhere! But for now, this weekend’s forecast high is 45° and I might be going back to my old ways pretty soon. But, being active was fun while it lasted.
